231008: depends what you want. this is more art history than buddhism. large images, beautiful, multi-media selection, accompanying essays. more involved, serious, academic than coffee table book but not deep exploration of themes. view of what it has been/is like to live in entirely 'eastern' culture. there are four sections, life of the buddha, wheel of life (philosophy and ethics), the book (s)(knowledge, cultural exchange), practicing buddhism (mindfulness, compassion)...
