Love Me Back (review) Merritt Tierce

241215: novel as wrecking ball. she is very young, wayward, once-religious, once-valedictorian divorced mother. she makes a lot of mistakes. she has sex with unbroken series of questionable men to no particular affect. she is definition of risky sex. she desperately loves her daughter but is far from parenting well. this is interesting gender inversion. if this were man we would say he is the man, not slut. if this were man we might say he never loses agency, he sees what he wants, he goes for it. over and over. as this is woman I at least anticipate, subtly, not-subtly, interpret embedded moral condemnation. she will not receive it from me. she is for me post-modern existential heroine. she sees what she wants, she goes for it. over and over...
